Making Blood
During this lesson we were split into groups to make a variety of different theatrical blood. We needed to ensure that most of the bloods we made were edible and as realistic as possible. By making different types of edible blood we got to see which looked best on camera an also how they could be used in different scenarios.
Another thing we found was that peanut butter blood, crunchy or smooth, looked best as an old wound or scab. For example a zombie wound.
A positive feature about the washing up liquid blood was that it was very inexpensive and very easy to mass produce. A disadvantage of this blood would be that it wasn't as good aesthetically as the other edible bloods, and had to be kept away from water as the blood would then bubble if it came into contact with it

Effective Make-Up Looks
Zombie Bite
- By showing a zombie bite using theatrical Make-Up, we wanted to present the different skills and techniques that we are able to use during our final opening title sequence to make it look as real as possible. During this video we used a range of different products including: Scaring Wax, Black-Eyeshadow, Red face paint and a variety of bloods. We then used a bruise wheel to make the bite look deeper and more painful, by using the yellow paint section of the bruise wheel it would make the bite look slightly infected and gory. We then splattered some thinner blood around the wound as if the Zombie tore the skin away and so it looked like a very deep wound.
Open Hand Wound
While practicing some makeup we thought it would be useful to show a simple 'Small Cut' as well as using examples of more complicated effects makeup. A small cut would prove effective as we thought it would make a killing scene more realistic if the victim has more than one major injury, By including smaller wounds, redness and bruising it will make the killing more realistic and gory.
Burnt Look
Here we wanted to show an example of a burn wound. we wanted to build on our range of makeup skills so we can add more effects to our opening title sequence. By practicing different types of wounds it gave us a wider range of choices on how we wanted to kill our victim. During this video we used products such as Liquid Latex, a Bruise Wheel, Fresh Scratch (scab blood) and liquid blood for a more realistic effect.
