Final Idea - The End
Our final idea revolves around Matt (the killer) and his desire to murder innocent victims. Our trailer begins with Matt in a mental institution, we have adapted his voice over to the majority of our trailer and we have incorporated some of the video footage at the beginning and throughout. To us this is more effective than our original idea because it has more of a sensationalist genre and shows why he has a desire to hunt, this is a improvement to our other idea as it gives a clear understanding of his past without telling the story too much. We have still used the same wording for the titles from 'The Human Centipede' as we wanted Matt's character to reflect the main character within this film. We decided to change our killing location from a basement to various different locations as this would present to the audience that within our film no matter where you are, you aren't always safe. We haven't focused on just one particular girl, we have focused on many, we did this to show his desire to hunt.
Our Idea - At beginning
Our initial idea is based on a psychological thriller motive with a 21st century feel. A creepy looking nerdy guy has an obsession with young girls and an aim to seek out 'perfection' to the extent of having photo's of each girl tracing their steps pinned up on his wall behind his computer. He checks up on the girls and 'stalks' their social networking sites (to give the 21st century aspect) when one night a girl posts on Facebook 'anybody doing lifts tonight?' after a night out - we then plan to screen cast him replying on a younger boy's fake account. We plan to have a shot of the group of friends in heels whilst in the rain and then the girl enters the boys car and whilst in the back seat her phone dies whilst writing in the group chat (again another introduction to the 21st century). At this point, whilst the girl has no way of speaking out or contacting anybody, things in the car begins to get a little spooky; for example, the doors lock, the man keeps looking in his rear view mirror. The next few shots will be of the girl on a torture table tied and strapped down, at first she may be unconscious and then when she begins to regain consciousness our main character walks in and would begin his 'torture sessions'. We aim to have shots mainly of this one specific girl as she is the one he is destined to be with she is his 'perfect girl' however we will also include shots of other girls having the same treatment - knives scraped across their neck, deconstruction of certain body parts e.g. eyeballs, lips and ears and random cuts in their bodies. We also want to include sexual references for example the man to be touching the girls' bare skin and to have little peaks of their naked bodies. Although this girl doesn't know she's his chosen one she is so therefore she tries to escape and the repercussions come back harder to her than they would've ever before. We also want to have a graveyard shot just to give the audience a sense of the fact he doesn't just play and leave, he kills them and with the main girl - buries her alive.
Update
We've now decided that we are going to use a fake taxi firm where the girl calls up for a lift home rather than putting on social media 'anybody doing lifts tonight?'. To still link it in with the 21st century effect, she receives a text message on her iPhone stating the taxi is waiting outside for her. She believes it is a taxi company but in fact it is a man waiting to take her to our main character (the nerdy man's house). As she gets in she gets a bit suspicious as the man locks the doors, but when she goes to text in the group chat, like stated above, her phone dies.
Update - 16th October
After our lesson today we have been inspired by the Human Centipede. Instead of our idea being based around the lift that the main character gives the girls - we have now decided to have the girls dressed up and in a car and they take a wrong turn and they end up in a forest atmosphere where they get lost. The girls are going to be all dressed up ready for a night out wondering through the forest when they reach a house (to link this into our stalker theme the man is purposely going to play with the car so it breaks down and the next house they'd reach would be our main character). We have now decided to tie in the human centipede theme of a doctors theory but we are going to challenge convention and just have the man as a doctor and have his uniform on and the equipment that they'll be tortured with and that will look like a hospital atmosphere but then when the camera zooms out the audience see's that really it's just in the man's basement; he think's he's a talented doctor when really he's a psychopath. We are also going to use a projector and the man will produce his ideas of what he's going to do with the girls on it - we will have a voice over of the man (edited to sound creepy) explaining his step by step process of the torture he will produce. We want the basement to be blue themed and to have real bright lights to make it look like it has a doctor theme.
Update - 19th November
We are now adapting onto the idea more of the Human Centipede; we are paying homage. The first minute of the Human Centipede is what we are inspired by and we will be trying to relay some of their shots. At the end of this trailer there is quick pace editing which we are also going to use - including 16 shots. This part of our trailer will be the most tense, although the shots will be fast it is these shots that include the torturing of the girls and the fast pace represents his relentlessness and the fast pace of the victim's hearts.
Update - 8th January
We have changed our idea to a killer simply killing girls. The trailer will consist of the killer in a white padded room in a white padded outfit suggesting that he is in a mental institute. There will then be a running dialogue of the killer. Throughout our trailer will be a series of kidnaps with the killer then preforming the torture. We were further inspired by The Call a story by Jon Bokenkamp, we have still incorporated titles from The Human Centipede however, we have made the trailer a whole lot simpler.
