Location
A location is a particular place in which we have chosen to shoot various shots within our horror.
School
We will use our media room in school with a mac computer and a blank wall behind that we will cover with photos of the victims and this will be used as the main character's 'lair' (where he goes to pre on his victims). We will use this as one of our vital locations as it will be the point that the audience notice the way that our trailer is going to go (identifying the point of the man being a psychopath). We are using the school as the chosen location for this shot as we believe the mac's available in this room represents the 21st century theme we're trying to thread through and the wall above that is free for us to post our pictures on represents him resembling a detective in the way he specifically spots out his 'perfect' girl'. |
Car
This will be where our main character traps his victims and although it will only be seen in a few shots, it plays a major role as it's what makes our trailer possible. The car gives a false sense of security as this is expected by people; the car is supposed to resemble being safe as it's better to be inside than outside in a time of need - however, we challenge convergence and make the car the beginning of the horror. |
Basement
The basement will be used in our trailer as the location where the girls get tortured and murdered. The basement is being used due to its lack of light and its old, dingy atmosphere. The basement is located under our protagonists house, this is his area of interest. The basement is going to be the key place where the true horror happens - our basement idea is not challenging convergence as it is a place that would be considered to be identified with darkness, death and unhappiness as it generally would be a dark place to be and is deeper under ground and under the house - showing no place of mercy and increasing the horror. |
Chosen Hill
The Chosen Hill is used in two separate ways, the first shot will be an outside shot of the car; we have decided on this location due to the scary atmosphere it already holds and will be used in mirror of the supposed 'safe haven' whilst being in the car. The other time the forest will be used within our trailer is when the girls are running through the dark forest trying to find somewhere safe to stay whilst they get more and more lost within the trees and darkness - portraying the darkness they are about to meet when entering the man's home. |
Street
We used a street as one location to show how no matter where his victims are, he still kills. Making nowhere safe. The house being behind the road/path is to give a hint of security that the girl would wish she had and to show how he isn't afraid of the consequences as he's doing this in an open space. This leaves the audience wondering has he done this before? This was a perfect location for us to use as it had the road next to it which we needed for the use of the car for the man to kidnap the girl with. |
The Garage
The garage was a prime location to kill a victim. The garage was dark, full of tools and very atmospheric. It looked like a lair of psychopath as it was full of equipment that could potentially be used to kill someone. It showed how the victim could not leave where she was being held hostage. |
Car Park
The car park was a main location within our trailer; this is where the final girl was followed to her car then gripped and hung over the side of the car park. This created atmosphere due to it being dark and there is the option of people being around, but on the other hand no one is to be seen. The car park was used to show its a normal location where anybody can be targeted, which leaves the audience feeling nervous. |
