Question 2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
When creating our media product, discussing branding and ancillary texts we wanted a consistent theme across all three of our products, to do this looked at various examples in horror genre which are instantly recognisable. The more distinctive and recognisable the product and how well certain images can be recognised with your own trailer, the better. Branding can help you stand out from your competitors, add value to your identity and engage your spectators. The stronger the brand, the more effective or well known the iconic image will be the higher the popularity and the more viewers your movie will achieve. When relating to the Horror genre the brand identity can consist of different varieties of brands which can conclude, props, persona, setting, logo and even the font can be a significant part of your icon.
Ideas from the trailer to our poster/magazine
As a sign of torture our kiler is seen chasing a girl with a crow bar in one of our scenes, with this being a very violent and personal way of kiling, we portrayed it into our poster. We positioned our killer at the back of the shot blurred out but had the crow bar in focus - emphasising the danger he could cause.

We decided to have our killer wearing a hood in our poster. This was done to set some mystery behind him. Within our trailer it is bold who he is and what he does but we wanted to kind of mask that in our poster - (only a little though as we did show our killer which is unusual) and we did this to add more suspicion to our trailer.

A couple of shots within our trailer are set outside. This is to resemble how fearless our killer is and for that reason we used the street as our location for our poster. This shot is from a car park location, adding to the reason we added the car into our poster. Also, the amount of times our girl victims are shown within our trailer is why we had them shown in the poster and magazine.

In conclusion, we believe the combination of our main products and our auxiliary text is very effective because we have a consistent theme running through, in different aspects. The scene where Bailee has her faced licked is featured in the trailer and on the magazine. The face licking scene is the iconic image of our product, and it makes us easily recognisable to the audience. Our tagline , 'I Don't Regret a Thing' is featured on all three platforms, again people are going to see one of the three and know that they are related because of the very memorable tagline.
