Inspiration
The Human Centipede
The Human Centipede (2009) is an effective horror trailer, which we have used as inspiration for our trailer. When we looked over our pitch, we realised that some aspects were similar to those of the Human Centipede, so we decided to use it to influence our titles and shots. This film is a Dutch film written, directed and co-produced by Tom Six. The film tells the story of a German surgeon who kidnaps three tourists and joins them surgically, mouth to anus, forming a "human centipede", a conjoined triplet. This is similar to our plot because we also are using a mentally unstable, and slightly weird man as the protagonist in our trailer. Human Centipede, like our horror, is about a sick man who messes with young girls bodies, using knives and disgusting other tools. When it comes to our titles, this film was very influential as we liked the style and the way in which they were written. For this reason we created very similar titles using the same type of language, adding our own style to it.
The Call
The Call (2013) is an effective horror trailer, which we have used as inspiration for our trailer. When we watched the trailer, a variety of shots that were used gave us inspiration for some of our ideas. This included using a car and abducting the girls in a way that the killer sees them and in essence, hunts them down and grabs them to put in his car. This is similar to The Call due to the killer reverses his car into a blonde female victim and then grabs her and chucks her into the boot. We also mirrored the abduction of the killer putting his hand over the victims mouth and pulling her back before putting her in the boot. Another inspiration was using several girls being tortured instead of just one. This made our trailer more interesting and mirrored this to indicate he was trying to find one particular girl. This reflects in our trailer due to the killer (mentally unstable, and slightly weird man); torturing and abducting many girls before he finds 'the one'; this is clear to the viewer due to a voiceover saying he was trying to find 'her'.
