Lighting
For the lighting, we have had to consider all different lighting ideas and issues. We have several different locations in which the lighting is crucial.
In the basement, the scene where the killer takes control and is torturing the girl needs the correct lighting to have the correct effect. D-lamp flood lights will be used in this scene to lighten up the basement.
UPDATE - We used a garage instead of a basement but with this idea. This was used due to the lighting coming in through a small window which indicated there was some view to the outside. The garage was extremely dark but because of that small light made the audience think there was some hope for her to escape.

Psychopath's office, lighting of a general room will be used in this scene as it needs to have the effect of a lonely man, the main light will be the mac. There will be a desk side lamp that will be on his notes and his scrapbook of the girls in which he wishes to torture. We decided to just have the lighting of the mac to show that is his main focus and allows the audience to focus on that too. By the lighting just coming from the mac, shows the reflection of the mac in his glasses, this indicates that that's the only thing he wants in his view and nothing else matters. The dark room around it will show that he doesn't care what else is going on around him.
In the car, the lighting within the car will be the interior car light, with three girls. The scene in the car will rotate and all girls will be focused on. The girl in the back will use the light of her phone as she is texting others for the party she is to be attending. This light will then go off as her phone dies and when all is about to hit rock bottom and change.
UPDATE - The car is used when Matt is sat in it watching his victim, so the car is dark with the street lights lighting up the inside so they can see his facial expressions.

The woods - We incorporated a wood scene where Jade was captured and killed. We decided to use woods as it has minimal lighting making it more tense for the audience and makes the victim more vulnerable. It was also used to show that Matt could use a torch or his own lighting to focus on what he wanted, for example when jade is hung from the tree we can clearly see that as a small light is used to resemble the killing.
The Street - We have filmed in the street when its dusk and dark as that is when people are their most vulnerable meaning anything can happen. In the street, the only lighting is the street lamps which light up where people are walking (where Charlotte is walking when she gets abducted) other than that it is dark, making it impossible to see in the distance or what is around you. This creates tension for the audience as anything could be lurking around a corner on somewhere in the distance watching you.
The house - We decided to use the corridor in the house up to the front door when Charlotte is banging on the door for help. The lighting inside to outside is a contrast to show two different things. It is dark and dull inside to represent Matt's personality and his mood and the way he wants to be - his life is dark full of mysterious and unwanted things (such as the killings). In contrast to it being quite light outside where Charlotte is hoping for someone to help her when she is in need. The light lighting shows that there is some hope for her, but when she's about to enter the house with dark lighting indicates it's going on a downhill spiral.
The Carpark - We decided to use the top of the car park so there is no roof meaning that we can use the outside light when it's just starting to get dark, as well as the light from the street lamps and other buildings. With showing that the light is fading, mirrors her security which is decreasing too.
We also used another floor of the car park with a roof so its dark in its surroundings, but it has the lights above (for the cars). This makes the lighting a bit dark and dingy and somewhere where people would not like to be alone.

A lift - We used a lift in our trailer, this meant that the lighting used was extremely light, just lights from the inside. This makes them feel like they are safe and have people to turn to whilst being inside - a false sense of security. We also used this lighting due to showing the victim going from the light inside, to outside in the dark with nobody around.
